The industries that employed the most diagnostic medical sonographers and cardiovascular technologists and technicians, including vascular technologists were as follows:

  • Hospitals; state, local, and private: 68%
  • Offices of physicians: 20%
  • Medical and diagnostic laboratories: 7%
  • Technologists and technicians are on their feet for long periods and may need to lift or turn patients who have a disability. Because technologists and technicians are sometimes needed to help when physicians diagnose and treat patients in emergencies, working conditions for some include evening, weekend, or overnight work hours.
